The Elegant and Noble Komeback

By Maya Pollard | Lincoln University
On May 22, 2025, the spirit of sisterhood, service, and scholarship was reborn at Lincoln
University as the Epsilon Nu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated proudly
introduced its first new initiates in 3 years: The 31 Debating, Daring, Disciples. The
long-awaited probate, held in the packed ICC, was a stunning and emotional affair that drew a
massive crowd with standing-room only in the venue.
Leading the line was the radiant chapter President Maya Pollard, the sole active member of the
chapter prior to this glorious occasion. Before their official reveal, Maya held down the chapter
on her own—but with the arrival of the 31 Disciples, the legacy of Alpha Kappa Alpha at
Lincoln is once again vibrant and thriving. Dressed in an elegant white gown, she guided the 31
young women into the spotlight with grace, representing the strength and perseverance it took to
bring Epsilon Nu back to life.
The campus was electric. The celebration continued well into the night with a celebratory party
at ASL (Apartment Style Living) where students engaged in a sprites night illuminating the
accomplishments of the new AKA’s on the yard. Though the party was quite eventful, the 31
didn’t waste any time. The very next morning, they were up bright and early for a community
clean-up, tidying the hallways and lobby of ASL—demonstrating that service doesn’t stop after
the show.
Continuing their dedication to service after their debut, these women had already begun making
their mark through acts of service. They organized a group clothing donation to the university’s
Career Closet, collected change for the March of Dimes for children in need, and participated in
the charity walk hosted by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Their commitment to community uplift ispositions and Royal Court titles. Their sisters proudly serve as campaign managers, coordinators,
and strategists, proving that Epsilon Nu is not only back, but leading with purpose and power
across every corner of campus life.
Fun Fact: The line of 31 is also making regional history as the first Alpha Kappa Alpha line to
come out in the entire North Atlantic Region this year, setting the tone for chapters across the
area!
While the campus is riding high from this historic return, Lincoln University President Dr.
Brenda Allen—an alumna of Lincoln University, and proud alumna member of the Epsilon Nu
of Alpha Kappa Alpha—is simultaneously facing unfounded backlash from false and
inflammatory fake news articles circulating online. Still, the joy and pride surrounding the
Epsilon Nu Chapter’s resurgence speaks louder than any headline bashing their illustrious
alumna.
This line marks a turning point not just for Alpha Kappa Alpha, but for Lincoln University. With
31 bold and brilliant women leading the way in service, leadership, and legacy the future is
bright, and it’s draped in pink and green.
