Kendrick Lamar is one of our generation’s most successful artists, and he is often regarded as the
finest rapper of our time. This year has been incredibly chaotic for him, he has been in a rap beef
with Drake.
The two of them (along with J Cole) have been compared since the early 2010’s and
all three rappers have been very impactful in hip hop, they’re known as the “Big Three”. This
dispute began with Big Sean’s song “Control.” Lamar calls out several rappers, including Cole
and Drake. He makes it plain that, despite their friendship, he is willing to go to any length to
prove his status as the greatest rapper of all time.
Drake didn’t take this diss likely and has been sneak dissing Kendrick Lamar ever since. The beef is already one of the most hip hop rivalries of all time. But another reason why this has been a chaotic year for him is because he has been selected to do the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2025. A lot of people are excited for him, he is a
very great performer and could put on a show. But a lot of people aren’t excited for him, but why
tho ? The halftime show is gonna be in New Orleans, that is where hip-hop legend Lil Wayne is
from.
People wanted him to perform at the show due to him being from the state, but the Super
Bowl doesn’t let artists perform due to their hometown, the only time that has been done was
with Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar. Lil Wayne spoke on Instagram Live and stated
that it “hurts” to not perform at the halftime show, but Is Lil Wayne in the best condition to do a
halftime show ?
It is known that Lil Wayne forgets his lyrics while he performs live and has been
having seizures due to his battle with epilepsy. Another group of people don’t think Kendrick
should perform due to him not having “huge hits” but that isn’t the case because Kendrick
definitely has huge hits in his catalog, but are the hits giving super bowl hits ? we’ll see. I
personally see both sides but I don’t think Lil Wayne should perform right now, it’s best for
business.
