LU Athlete Spotlight: Rontay Dunbar

Written by: Jeffery Williams

Rontay Dunbar is a student-athlete hailing from Brooklyn, NY at Lincoln University(PA). He starts at cornerback for the Lions. In his two seasons, Dunbar has five interceptions, 40 tackles, and 20 pass breakups. Before games, Dunbar loves to listen to hip-hop to get him amped up. Artists such as G Herbo, Lil Durk, Chief Keef, and even some Brooklyn-based artists such as 26Ar, Sha Ek and Pop Smoke are some of his go-to’s. His stellar season has made him one of the top HBCU draft prospects for 2023. Outside of football, Dunbar majors in Mass Communication, and is passionate about his academics. His ultimate goal is to eventually make it to the NFL. “One of my objectives is to make it to the league because it has been my dream since I was a little football player”, Dunbar stated. What keeps him motivated throughout his life is the reminder of the sacrifices his mother made for him. He’s grateful for it and he aims to make her proud.
