Dr.Judith A.W.Thomas has left a profound impact on generations at Lincoln University and beyond. To honor her remarkable legacy, Carmen Lesesne, president of the Chester County Alumni Chapter, established a scholarship in her name.Through dedicated efforts, Lesesne helped raise the scholarship fund to over $11,000 during the annual Jazz Awards luncheon in March 2024, which was devoted to this cause. Prior to the luncheon, the scholarship balance stood at $3,750.
The first-ever oratorical competition honoring Dr.Judith A.W.Thomas took place on Saturday, November 9th. Following the event, the participating students earned scholarships to be applied to their Lincoln University accounts for the upcoming Spring semester. The scholarship winners are as follows:
•Trinity Cannon: $2,500
•Ava Edwards: $1,500
•Krystahl Gordon: $1,000
•London McIntosh: $500
More than 30 individuals expressed interest in the competition and four students advanced to the final round.The judging panel included Dr. Button, a current Lincoln University faculty member.Attorney Michael Henderson, a Lincoln alumnus and former member of the debate team advised by Dr. Thomas, also served as a judge.
