Thomas Leads the Lions

By: Sutton Sinclair On October 8th Lincoln’s Men’s Cross Country team competed in the HBCU Challenge in Cary, North Carolina, taking 6th place overall as well as finishing 3rd amongst the CIAA. The Men’s team finished with an average time of 30:41 acquiring a total of 182 points. The Lions were led by freshman Isaiah Thomas who finished with a final running time of 28:09, setting a new personal best. The team carried that momentum a week later matching up against rival Cheyney University on October 12th. Thomas, who led them to yet another win, commented on his team's performance and his future hopes; “I feel as though my team and I are prepared for the CIAA championship. New Coach For Lincoln Lions Football

By Ryan Wilcox During the 2017 spring semester, Lincoln University appointed Reginald Byarse Jr as the new interim head football coach for the LU Lions football team. At just 29 years old, Coach Byarse currently stands as the youngest coach in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) division. A 2011 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Byarse holds a B.S. in Sports administration. During his time as a student, he served as a volunteer coach through the Bearcat football program for two seasons, and also as an organizer for the “A Road to Follow” program for at risk youth. The Lions athletics have brought in a new coach. New change of scenery to their performance system and now there is even a new athletic director. Michael Howard It is spring semester again, which means only one thing; baseball season is here and the Lions of Lincoln University are gearing up to go battle this upcoming season. This 2016-17 campaign for the Lions has a brighter outlook compared to the last few seasons. The Lions are returning six seniors and a full healthy pitching staff. The Lions start off their season with an away game on Feb. 18. Taylor Murphy Wearing an afro, kneeling during the Star-Spangled Banner and not voting are just some of the actions that have sparked a movement among Colin Kaepernick’s NFL counterparts and fellow sports affiliates. Opposite Feelings Accompany Lincoln’s Men and Women Basketball

By Federico Ghelli There were mixed feelings after the first games of the season for the women and men’s basketball teams. The men lost both games, while the women won their season opener. On Nov. 14, at The Lincoln University the men’s basketball team suffered a 92-72 loss against East Stroudsburg University, as part of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) – Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Challenge. Joshua Davis was the top scorer for the Lions with 10 points, making four out of five two-point shots. East Stroudsburg made 51 percent of the shots (20-39) against a low 35 percent (6-17) for the Lions.
