Student recognition ceremony

Students at times feel like they aren’t truly appreciated for all the hard work they do here at Lincoln University, thursday’s convocation proved them wrong with the Student Recognition Awards Convocation.

The ceremony, which usually happens once a semester, honors and recognizes students who are both leaders academically and socially on campus. Senior Diamond Austin said “it felt really good to recognized today.”

“I’m happy that I can leave Lincoln knowing that not only did I make myself proud, but I made Lincoln proud,” says Austin, who received the L.D. Smucker Organic Chemistry Award.

Each department was given the opportunity to showcase their top students and their accomplishments.

Student Leader Ambassador, Student Activities Assistants and Resident Advisors were also awarded for their social and leadership skills on campus.

“A lot of people think that being an Activities Assistant is an easy job, but in reality it takes a lot of time, patience, and dedication,” says Junior Christopher Wilson.

There were plenty of other awards given out like Outstanding Sophomore Biology Major, which went to Cindy Obi and Outstanding Music Freshman which went to Chineye Onukwugha.

Convocations are held every Thursday in the International Cultural Center at 11:00a.m.
