Lions win Conference matchup

The Lincoln University women volleyball team defeated the Bowie Bulldogs to earn their first conference win of the 2017 season. The Lions won the nights matchup of a score 3-1 lead by Mariah Russell and her stellar performance also setting a season high CIAA matchup with her career high nine aces. The Lions improve to an overall 3-10 record looking to continue their hot play leading into their next matchup against CIAA opponent Virginia State University Trojans. Along with Russell’s great play Alisa Foster also added to the Lions success with her 25 assist for the night. With this Lions win they bring the Bowie Bulldogs to a 1-16 record. The Lions are back to in action on Monday night on the road at VSU. The Lions jumped out to an early lead in the first set of a 12-5 and with a tough first set the Lions were able to win that set of a score of 25-19. Loosing the second set was a tough match as Bowie got out to a hot start early and never looked back winning this set of a score 25-21. To complete the last set the Lions finished up strong and won the last set of a score 25-16.  With this great play the Lions will look to hopefully make a run at keeping their CIAA hopes alive and finish up strong playing as they continue battling against the other conference opponents.

The Lions will tip off at 6pm at VSU on Monday looking to continue their hot conference play.
