Lion Media Aims to Bring Awareness to Urban Violence

Lion Media’s goal is to  enrich Lincoln University and showcase student talent via six radio and three television productions. Lion Media’s new goal is to bring attention to urban violence.

“Music is a form of expression and having this event can impact my peers to be aware of the issue the way conventional methods just can’t. I’m really looking forward to a fun concert,” said Alicia Brown stage manager for Friday’s festivities.

In partnership with top Philadelphia radio station Power 99 FM and Red Bull energy drink, Lion Media will host the first Lion Media Violence Awareness Music Fest. The event is a free benefit concert, Friday March 23 at 7:30 in the Ware Center.

The concert is headlined by a diverse group of well known underground and Lincoln artists. Among those performing include Latif, Lee Mazin, Regular Reese, Chase Allen, Crush Records, and fellow lions Mack Al-Friqi and Nudelphia.

Lion Media personas Lynn Shirley and Rich Lancaster will host this year’s concert, and they intend to bring the same enthusiasm and enjoyment that Lion Media productions are known for.

Media Center Director Ashley Sims is proud of the social message the benefit provides and is also excited about Lincoln University becoming a beacon for talented new artists.

“People can expect to find some good new artists different from what they already have in their Ipod,” said Sims. “Most importantly it’s going to show underground artists Lincoln University is the place to be for exposure and opportunity.”
