Entrepreneurs looking for big opportunities should look to Africa, this week’s convocation speaker told The Lincoln University students Thursday.

“The growth opportunity is in Africa,” said Mihayo Wilmore, the valedictorian of the Lincoln University class of 2000.

Wilmore is a founding partner of UmojaOne, UhuruOne and Telesis Tanzania. He holds a master’s degree in information science from Penn State University.

At the convocation in the International Cultural Center, Wilmore spoke about investing in information communication technology in Africa. He said he wants to bridge the gap to Africa so that everyone can be connected with technology.

Wilmore has worked with leading brands such as Celtel, Tigo, MTN, Zantel,  Zain, Airtel and Unisys.

He said Tanzania has more job opportunities than the United States, noting the differences in pay and benefits between the two countries.

Wilmore said the U.S. growth rate is about 1 percent but at least  12 percent in Africa.
